Science Fair Proposals

Hello Parents!

Your children have been given their Science Fair proposal sheets this week. I would like to explain to you what we discussed in class, and how they will complete this assignment.
  • The proposal is NOT their actual project. It is just a means for your children to tell me what they would like to do for their Science Fair project. They should not be completing an actual project at this time.
  • The information to help them complete their proposal can be found on the Science Fair Variables page that was handed out to them. It is also attached on this page as a Word Document.
  • Students do not have to work with a partner. However, if they choose to, they may work with only 1 partner who is in Huber Street Elementary in Grades 4 or 5.
  • Their proposals must be on a testable topic. NO MODELS OF VOLCANOES, THE SOLAR SYSTEMS, OR SLIME. We want the students to think like scientists, and perform a testable project.
  • The students must complete their proposals with three different project ideas (Choice A, B, and C). If they do not do so, their assignment is considered incomplete.
  • This proposal will count as 1 quiz grade. If your child completes their proposal will all three choices, and all necessary parts are filled in (including parent signature), then they will get a 100 on this quiz grade. Proposals will be due Monday, November 19th. For students who do not see me on Mondays, please either have them hand in their assignment at an earlier date, or hand it in to me after school during my after school help hours on Mondays, 3:00 - 3:30. FOR EACH LATE DAY, I WILL TAKE OFF 5 POINTS ON THIS GRADE.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me at any time over the November break.

Thank you all so much.

Sincerely,
Miss DiGirolamo
