2nd grade Author Visit. On Wednesday April 3rd, the students in the 2nd Grade were given the opportunity to interact through a Skype call with the author of “Ivy and Bean” series, Annie Barrows. The students were able to speak with the author about her writing passion and where she gathers inspiration for her books. A q&a session, tour of her home office and writing room all took place right in our Huber Gym!
Etch A Sketch Challenge Ms. Phemsint had the first graders participate in The Etch A Sketch Challenge. These students were able to make some artistic creations and pictures with the twist and twiddle of a knob.
“Escape Room Challenge” Mrs. Critelli and Mrs. Viera’s 3rd Grade Classes took part in an “Escape the Room Challenge”. The students worked collaboratively in groups to solve critical thinking puzzles, identify the main ideas of passages, summarize text and answer open-ended questions in order to “ESCAPE PLANET EMOJI.” This activity helped students review important ELA skills, allowed them to work on communication and taught them the importance of teamwork. Each team worked extremely hard, but only one group from each class escaped! Congratulations on Escaping Planet Emoji!
Operation in the 4th grade Mrs. Curry’s 4th graders were performing “surgery” on text features as part of their Language Arts lesson. The operation was a success!
Young American Poetry Contest Congratulations to Mrs. Critelli's Third Grade Students for their win in the Young American Poetry Contest. Their poems have been selected by teachers, librarians and media specialist from across the nation and will be published in the "Young American Poetry Digest". A copy of the 2019 Digest will be available in the Huber Street School Library.
Happy Green Day! -From The Kindergarten Happy Green Day from the Kindergarten ! Students in Mrs. Jaeger’s & Mrs Rennie’s class spent the day participating in Leprechaun Math. During these hands on activities students sorted, counted, and added Lucky Charms. The students also created unique headbands.
Parent Info Session: Part 2 Clarendon School will be hosting a Parent Information Session on Digital Citizenship. It will take place on Wednesday, March 26th at 6:30 P.M. in the Clarendon Gymnasium for the parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Our goal is to help establish a positive digital footprint and provide resources to help you guide your children through the obstacles presented by today's technology. This event is for PARENTS ONLY. Parents from both elementary schools are invited.
